Bleeding or inflamed gum pockets
Scaling and root planing
Cleaner pockets and healthier gums
SRP (Scaling and Root Planing) does the important mechanical work. It removes plaque and tartar from the
tooth roots so the gums can begin to heal. The laser gives our team another way to target irritated tissue
and bacteria inside deeper pockets.
This does not replace deep cleaning. It works alongside it. The goal is to make the treated area cleaner and
calmer, which can help your gums respond better over time.
Your dentist or hygienist will decide if it makes sense for your case. Some patients need laser support in only a few areas. Others may need a broader gum therapy plan.
We measure the spaces around your teeth and look for bleeding, swelling, and buildup below the gumline.
Scaling and root planing removes hardened deposits from the tooth roots. This step matters because healthy
healing starts with a clean surface.
The laser is directed into areas that need extra attention. Most patients feel little to no discomfort during
this part of the visit.
We explain how to brush and clean between your teeth while the gums heal. Follow-up visits help us track pocket
depth and bleeding.
If your gums bleed, feel tender, or have been diagnosed with periodontal pockets, Sonora Dental can help you understand your treatment options.
